My Letter Send to Senator Edward M. Kennedy's Senate Website Today..........
To The Kennedy Family,
I am so sorry for the passing of your Father, Grandfather, Uncle and beloved family member, Senator Edward Kennedy. I lost my beloved Father, T. Walter Ross from tongue and throat cancer in August 2007.
I say something about the month of August can give great pain but a smile on the face, at the same time. I also lost a cousin, whom was like a brother, in August of 1988. Still at times, I smile in the month of August, thinking about the good times that both of my relatives and I shared together. I will never forget the good times and treasure them.
When I think of Senator Kennedy, I reflect that by his bill SCHIP, allowed for my children to have health care for many years--without me having to worry about on limited income, how I would pay for it. I think of the Pell Grants that he supported, that allow me the opportunity to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in 2004.
One of my proudest moments in my life was when my Daddy hugged me after walking off the stage after 13 long years, when I obtained my degree. I have Senator Kennedy to thank for that moment.
There will be no greater United States Senator in my lifetime, then "Teddy" (if I can call him that). From afar, he was like family to me. I always admired his gift to care for others that he never met, that were much poorer than him and give a large portion of his life to causes that would assist people like myself, live the American dream.
Please accept my best wishes to find peace during your family personal time of lost and know that Senator Kennedy was a special gift that your family allowed to be shared with us, common folks. I will pray for you to find peace during your time of lost.
Sincerely,
Monica Ross-Williams
