The coup government in Honduras is currently being condemned by the IACHR, AI, and HRW for its human rights violations, which not only include police brutality against peaceful demonstrators but also governmental censorship of media outlets and militaristic intimidation of journalists. The incidents reported include the gang-rape of pro-Zelaya protesters by police and the murder of activists by the army.
News that the State Department may move to cut off all aid to this undemocratic regime has incensed the wingnut community, which has never met a right-wing thug regime they didn't worship.
The comments, which can be read below, provide deep insight into Orwelllian mindset of the wingnut.
Most of the comments buy into the theory that Zelaya was a dictator-to-be despite the fact that his referendum was non-binding, the equivalent of a Gallup poll. The real reason they hate Zelaya is his insistence on giving the impoverished majority of his country a better deal. Lord knows how increasing the minimum wage can negatively impact those poor oppressed foreign investors and domestic oligarchs.
0bama really loves would be dictators for life like Zelaya.
More of the idiocy of "smart" power, side with dictator after dictator, insult our allies.

The bottom line on this: Obama wants Honduras to end up like Venezuela with Zelaya sitting on the throne.
When you put this with what Glenn Beck was discussing, it just all points in the same direction of having a communist for a president.
Isn’t anyone curious to know what was in Obama’s ‘missing’ thesis about Soviet Russia?

We must promote Communism in our hemisphere.
Sorry.

Well this make it clear what this administration supports!
Chavez, Castro or Honduran constitution.
Black Panthers or CIA
Socialism or Liberty
This President needs to get his American Service Army in place soon. I don’t see the Secret Service experienced agents sticking around for long.

Another stroke by our communist president and his fascists, dem friends.

etc. etc.
At least one of the commenters desired the sight of blood in the streets.
When is this scumbag just going to come out with it and say what he really wants to say? You know this egotistical scumbag desperately wants to tell us to our faces that we aren’t a free nation anymore, and what was planned in Honduras and what took place in Venezuela is only a portion of what zero plans for us.
I want to see that day come and soon. It will be that much better for the country when OBAMA is deposed and imprisoned, and his army of left wing socialist fascists are left bleeding in the streets.

A couple of commenters took a line from Rush Limbaugh and proclaimed that the Honduran solution would be good for America
The idea of a military coup sounds pretty good right now.

I would have a hard time making armed rebellion against the United States. Against Obamastan? No Problem!

Maybe the maggot in chief deserves a little coup of his own?

Here's a charming prison rape fantasy:
obama is just a marxist thug and only respects thugs. It will be nice when he gets to prison and meets bubba.

Here's a hilarious jab at liberals, who apparently are secret Muslims as well:
Hmm, so, where are all our trolls who should be in here defending this hideous stupidity on the part of the Dear Leader?

And to top it all off, here is a short "wink wink nudge nudge" suggestion of how a right-wing guerilla war against the ObamaNation would work:
JellyToast - Smart Americans interested in a hypothetical revolt against a potential fascist government would attack unattended infrastructure until the entire system feeding this potential "beast" collapsed - not attempting to use civilian weaponry against armor, infantry, and planes.
In this fictional situation, it would not be a battle of solider on soldier, but of citizens sabotaging water towers, sewer mains, damns, the interdependent power grid, starting large wild fires, and other such acts of large, expensive sabotage.
The hypothetical tyrannical government would bleed itself dry attempting to prevent, garrison, repair, fortify, and investigate these acts of sedition. Or they could ignore it, and watch their entire society crumble into chaos.
If it were to come to Civil War, I would imagine that the US citizens would realize that you can stop a tank without destroying it directly.
I would guess that in this fanciful scenario, things like fuel refineries would prove to be extremely vulnerable targets so sabotage. Just like the hundreds of thousands of miles of completely un-guarded roads and rail lines, pipelines, and other bits of infrastructure dotting the remote country-side of this nation. Bits of infrastructure that feed our federal government and it’s military.
You know, hypothetically speaking of course.
The Ronin Edge on August 28, 2009 at 2:14 AM
So, there you have it. The State Department considers halting federal funding (our tax dollars) for a Third World military dictatorship, and the wingnuts start fantasizing about killing Obama supporters, instigating a military coup, and starting a guerilla insurgency against the federal government.
It's not so much what their reactions are that is strange but what they are reacting to. I never thought I'd see the day when a cut in foreign aid would be seen as a cause for conservative insurrection against the Feds.
