Another day another outrageous lie by the republicans, this time they are claiming the Obama administration would "ration" health care to discriminate against Republicans based on voter registration records. Unbelievable.
The AMA put out the following statement
"Patients should rest assured that the health care legislation under consideration in the House does not ration medical care or discriminate based on political affiliation. The fact is that the House bill will expand coverage and prohibit denials for coverage based on pre-existing medical conditions. The AMA is working for all Americans to have affordable, quality health coverage so they can get the care they need."
The assertion which appeared in a questionnaire approved by RNC Chairman Michael Steele, is false.
Following the push back, the RNC conceded that it was "inartfully worded."
Yeah right.
Here is part of the mailing from RNC Chairman Michael Steele titled "2009 Future of American Health Care Survey".
"It has been suggested that the government could use voter registration to determine a person's political affiliation, prompting fears that GOP voters might be discriminated against for medical treatment in a Democrat-imposed health care rationing system. Does this possibility concern you?"
Meanwhile Politico is reporting the AMA is joining Families USA, the SEIU, the Federation of American Hospitals and PhRMA – to air new spot pushing health care reform. The coalition is targeting voters in Arkansas, Alaska, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Nevada, South Dakota, Montana, North Dakota, Maine and Virginia.
The AD talks about eight ways health care legislation could improve Americans' coverage.
