There is always a false equivalence emanating from republican mouths. Frank Rich mentions such when he claims:
Those on the right who defend the reckless radicals inevitably argue "The left does it too!" It’s certainly true that both the left and the right traffic in bogus, Holocaust-trivializing Hitler analogies, and, yes, the protesters of the antiwar group Code Pink have disrupted Congressional hearings. But this is a false equivalence. Code Pink doesn’t show up on Capitol Hill with firearms. And, as the 1960s historian Rick Perlstein pointed out on the Washington Post Web site last week, not a single Democratic politician endorsed the Weathermen in the Vietnam era.
That's not the half of it.
first of all, those who called Bush a tyrant were referring to a man who hadn't won a damn thing (actually, he had quite convincingly lost).
What were the policies that fomented the left to irresponsibly compare George W. to Hitler? He claimed to know good from evil. He wanted to start a war. He showed no pause in marching us into another nation to kill people.
Kill people.
What policies are fomenting militia groups and gun-toters to bandy about watering the tree of liberty? A universal health care plan that was openly presented as the flagship of Obama's campaign and which was overwhelmingly endorsed in a fair election.
Health Care.
I despised the appointment of George Bush, but I accepted his presidency. It's a glitch in our democracy but Al Gore was right when he deferred to the Supreme Court. Without that deference we would descend into an inoperable government where righteous authority can be claimed by any number of groups for any number of reasons. I fully expected his presidency to be a lame duck blip in our history. My how things change. but that's not the point here.
The point here is that Republicans are traitors. With the exception of a few luke warm concessions by a very few Republican leaders, there is little acknowledgment of Obama's democratic right to the Presidency. It is, in fact, quite the opposite. The lot of them, are more interested in short term political wins at the expense of the integrity of our nation. It is despicable and I am not optimistic about what the consequences will be in the absence of their patriotism.
