First of all, it's obvious the corporate media is making sure every talking point that the right puts out becomes a major controversy. If someone doesn't want their kid to listen to the President of the United states motiviate and encourage learning that's fine. That's the state of our pathetic political system these days. They should keep them home and let them watch cartoons and dumb them down evern further.
So what is the big deal? It kind of seems over the top to go after Obama on a subject such as education, or does it?
Not from a political standpoint. Obama (and I still support him) is turning out to be like Jimmy Carter. He's a nice guy who talked a tougher game during the campaign. He demonstrated the ability to defend his actions during the debates and on occasion "showed some fire in his belly" when he needed to.
The problem Obama has is his inability to do it on a daily basis and get covered by the media. Obama was able to capture the limelight on a daily basis during the campaign. Public speaking is clearly his strongest suit and the right is trying ever so hard to repress this strength. When Obama speaks, people listen and his ratings tick up. So what does the opposition do? They go after his strength making seem like every word, every action, every move is politically driven even in cases where he is enouraging our children to do well in school. They will continue to magnify this and take the wind from his sail if allowed to continue with these actions.
It's about supressing the message.
We have seen this at the town hall meetings. If they take away legitimate talking points, kick and scream over the message, they dillute the message and interject their message into the debate. They are sreaming louder and unfortunately with the help from the media, they are gaining traction.
I'm sure you have heard that the Fox Network will not be covering Obama's speech Wed. night but have deferred the speech to their Fox news station and punditry so they can do their typical Obama bashing session and interject their spin afterwards. Instead the Fox network will run the premiere of "So You Think You Can Dance". This demonstrates how much they fear Obama's ability to pursude the public. In a nutshell, it demonstrates how much disrespect they have for Obama and at the same time respect his ability to move people with his words. I hope people start boycotting any of Fox's shows and tank their ratings. That would really kick them where it counts. Anyway...
I hope the Obama administration learns this first year the fate of the last nice guy who took office. Jimmy Carter had great visions for America, he was and is very intelligent, but lacked the pepper needed to fight these goons on the right.
Obama needs to lead and stop trying to play Mr. Nice Guy otherwise he loses his congress and his seat in four short years.
We on the left had better realize very quickly that the right is never going to play fair and so we must not play fair.
Give them hell Obama!! They sure are giving you some!!
