It seems that more and more is coming out about the repugnant's choice for "Just Say No" tonight.
Reuters is reporting: (bolding mine)
Republican Congressman Slated to Oppose President Obama's Health Care Plan
Hooked on Health and Insurance Campaign Contributions...
According to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, Rep. Boustany has received $1,256,056 from health and insurance interests since first being elected in 2004. The total counts for more than 20 percent of all of his fundraising.
UPDATES are at the bottom of the diary. Great for laughs :)
So just one more quote from the article:
"There is a conflict of interest when members of Congress stand before the
public and recite the same talking points put forth by lobbyists and the heads
of insurance and HMO giants opposing health care legislation," commented David
Donnelly, national campaigns director of Public Campaign Action Fund.
It would seem that Rep. Boustany has some major conflicts of interest.
The Hill also has exposed Boustany's voting record:
"Congressman Boustany's no votes on issues ranging from providing health insurance for children, to fighting pandemic flu, to keeping the doors open at community health centers makes him a credible voice for special interests, but not for hardworking Louisianians who struggle with health insurance companies," noted Jessica Santillo, Southern Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Politico is reporting that this champion of "Family Values" has at least three malpractice suits against him:
Boustany had three malpractice suits
Rep. Charles Boustany (R-La.), who is scheduled to deliver the GOP rebuttal to President Obama tonight, has been the defendant in at least three malpractice suits over his two decade career, according to lawsuit records obtained by POLITICO.
UPDATE I:
I can't resist putting up His Lordship's old video. Too funny.
UPDATE II:
Can't resist detailing more about His Lordship's Lordship. Seems he was suckered by two con men from England. Rather than let it go and not become public, Lord Boustany evidently sued for his money back.
According to The Daily Kingfish in 2008, Lord Boustany paid $18,500 to purchase his fake British title. Such a deal.
They even have a copy of the suit he filed to get his money back.
Perhaps more telling is what The Daily Kingfish quoted from Roll Call concerning Lourd Boustany and DC lobbyists:
"Amid that growing concern, Boustany invited 30 of the most powerful Louisianans living in Washington, D.C., to his home in mid-February to discuss the state and its priorities."
"I called a meeting of Louisiana lobbyists ... to let them know that I'm willing to be the conduit to the rest of the delegation to make sure that we are setting our priorities and all working toward common goals."
I guess Boustany has always been on the side of big money.
