So I'm sore this morning and skipping the gym. And I'm going to sit through Morning Joe while doing other things before leaving for work. Let's see if I can get through this for 45 minutes.
Here we go.
Joe has told us Joe Wilson (R-SC) is a nice, quiet guy. And that heckling the president is out of character. So defense 1 of the morning for this on the show in the first minute. And now we are being told Democrats hissed at George Bush during speeches and now Joe Wilson is embarrassed and has apologized. So first 6 minutes have seen half the time dedicated to Joe Wilson. And now we are pointing out Rahm Emanuel is mean.
Ah, Joe's meme of the morning is going to be that the 47 million uninsured number is a lie because it includes illegal immigrants. And that the president lies because he says 47 million uninsured and that number includes illegal immigrants. So we know the Republican talking points for the day.
So by 6:10 I now know the story isn't what the president said, it's that Joe Wilson apologized, Democrats were also mean to Bush and the President is going to insure illegals because he uses a number that has illegal immigrants in it. How do people watch this show? I would ask why MSNBC keeps this partisan hack on but they are the network that keeps letting that anti-semite Pat Buchanan on their air so why should I be surprised.
Oh God, Eric Cantor is coming this morning. Dear Lord may I have left for work by then. What can he say from last night, he was too busy on his blackberry to have paid attention to much. Can we ban twittering from the floor during Joint sessions. I closed my computer, I didn't live blog, I didn't tweet. I listened to what the president had to say, is it too much to ask our elected officials who are going to vote on this stuff to listen too?
Hmm, apparently Politico has decided that the President told us we are not getting the public option but we liberals and progressives are happy about it. And people are too dumb to know what demagoguery means apparently.
Oh wait, we're back to Joe Wilson. Apparently he'll get through this though, good for him. Life is rough for a Congressman who get's to keep his job and have no punishment for being rude. But he'll pull through. Yup, being rude, he'll get over it. But let's all take a moment to stop and pray for Congressman Wilson and think about what he is going through this morning. And then let's think about how Joe Scarborough has all this concern for his good buddy Joe and doesn't seem to have a shred of sympathy for the 47 million people without insurance (yeah Joe, i'm using that number, get over yourself) in this country. But then again Joe is a Republican.
Wow, this show is painful. People watch this every morning?
So why is it that what they took from the Public Option section was that Liberals should compromise because this is a small portion of the overhaul. That seems to be what Joe and Mika think. Why isn't the message that conservatives should compromise because this is a small portion of the overhaul? I could draw that from what the president said. Last I saw there were more Conservatives drawing lines in the sand than liberals. Why is the expectation that we were the ones being told to compromise? Seemed pretty obvious to me that the President could have been talking to conservatives there too. Why can't Joe Scarborough see this? Oh wait, i forgot there for a second because it's early, his a Republican hack.
Is this the secret to Joe Scarborough? It's early in the morning, people are tired, so they don't listen so well or quite grasp what he is saying. Does he work off of talking to the tired mind.
Wait, what Joe draws from calling out liars in the speech was that in order to be bi-partisan he should have called out Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid specifically. Not naming any Republicans that should have been called out by name. I might be done. Let's see if O'Donnell saves this segment or if his inside politics only the finance committee matters nature comes out.
Nope, O'Donnell is on message this morning. "It's all Max Baucus's plan." "Nobody understands it." "The pay for section is all that matters." "I did this in 1994 when I worked in the Senate." Waste, fraud and abuse is just a lie. The President isn't going to pay for this. The president is going to cut Medicare. Yup, here comes the talking point where they're going after Medicare. And another "I had to do this in 1994." O'Donnell is much better on every topic except when it comes to the finance committee. Then he becomes a self important jerk.
Universal coverage has been abandoned now. Which we all know this wasn't if we read anything in the last 6 months.
Oh look, the WSJ is talking about how to stop this.
Did you know Joe wrote a book?
Did you know health care was complex and we would have to improve whatever bill is passed?
Did you know that your healthcare plan is going to change? Because of how they are going to pay for this.
Time to stop. Which is good because they just indicated David gregory was coming. And I can't afford to be put back to sleep.
But I have my talking points for the day.
- Joe Wilson is a good guy. Democrats were bad when they did "things" to Bush. But Joe Wilson will pull through this.
- The president lies. He is either insuring illegals or making up numbers about the uninsured
- The president abandoned the public option
- Medicare is going to be cut
UPDATE: OMG. I just turned back in before shutting down. Scarborough just said Ted Kennedy is the equivalent of Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms. WTF. I think we're taking false equivalence too far. O'Donnell was trying to say Reagan and Scarborough took it to the racists.
