The GOP Knew About Joe Wilson's Outburst Well In Advance. It Was Pre-Approved And Well-Planned.
Last night, Representative Joe Wilson did was he set out to do: provide a ton of political cover to the hundreds of GOP congressmen who have been attacking our president in an obvious effort to derail healthcare reform.
The outburst was planned. It was approved, well in advance. Say what you want about the GOP, but it is a relentlessly disciplined one-message machine that focuses on a single goal. Think about this past summer and you have to marvel at how effectively the GOP has stayed in lock-step in chipping away at healthcare reform.
Representative Wilson accomplished a number of things last night.
- He took the heat off the more vitriolic GOP congressmen who have basically said the same thing, only in a more polite manner.
- He diverted media attention from the speech itself. Once again, Fox, MSNBC and the major networks have something to focus on - and surprise, surprise, it ISN'T healthcare!
- He ensured he will be elected to his seat in 2010, that is, unless he decides to run for the senate seat, which he is now a shoe-in for. In fact, since Joe Wilson actually avoided using the N word, he is likely to pursue his presidential aspirations!
Watch the video. Watch the people around him. He was ready at the right time. The GOP were ready to react just as they planned. Fox News had a perfect scripted response to Joe Wilson; sort of condemning his manners but being very understanding as to why he did what he did!
You could call all of this conspiracy theory if it weren't so patently, absurdly obvious.
