Our school administration chose to delay President Obama's speech from its original scheduled date of Tuesday, September 5th. Yesterday at Back to School Night parents learned our middle school students will view the President's speech in 1st period tomorrow. By the way, that's 9/11 (queue the scary music). Students can opt out with permission from parents and will view an alternative educational option.
In her welcoming comments last night, our principal described this option as an 'a movie on 9/11, or something patriotic like that'! According to the school district this morning, the principal will make the final decision on the alternative option.
What should I do now? My children are definitely patriotic Obama supporters. Which option is the best choice for them - the President's motivational speech or a patriotic 9/11 film?
Update: I changed the title to reflect the audacity of it all.
