Alright, so some of us may have the unfortunate displeasure to be debating against people who keep going "we have a plan, too, it's being ignored" on the republican side. I'm in a couple fierce ones on other sites.
Anyways, as part of the debate, I found that Tom Price's plan (HR 3400) has this nice little trojan horse:
The bill would be financed through reduced discretionary spending, repeal of stimulus bill provisions and other provisions.
Source
I've found a few other sources saying the same thing, including one that claims it's a 1% / year cut without making it clear whether that 1% / year is a one-time cut or a sliding 99, 98, 97, 96% (etc) thing.
So, when someone starts prattling on about "it's cover this, that, and the other thing, it's only 56 pages, and it is this, that, and the other thing", remember: it's real purpose is to repeal the stimulus and to impose draconian restrictions on government spending. While I know that some actually like this provision, I for one am in a position where cutting off stimulus funding would have catastrophic consequences (scientific research via the NIH challenge grants).
So, for those unfortunate souls who have to debate with ideologues who are in love with Tom Price's plan, here's the "trojan horse" that you can use. So far it's worked twice for me - no reply from the people I'm debating with, and they're the type that "no reply" means "shit, you have a point and I can't find a comeback".
