While I love KOS, discussion here about health care is mostly like preaching to the choir. We all generally support one anothers opinions.
On FaceBook the political landscape is much more diverse.
The following is my response to a friends posting and comment to me.
This was all done in News page for all our friends to see.
Most of my FaceBook friends are work related. I work as a stagehand in New York and the FB format has been embraced by this community very strongly. A group of generally tech savy people with laptops and internet access that have time on their hands while waiting for their next cue.
As I said above, this all started on FaceBook which is not as political homogeneous as people are here.

As I've said before, I am not for either side (in the health care debate) because I haven't heard ANY/ALL of the right answers yet, but I do believe in more information. Thanks Amy for posting this.

Do mean you have no opinion in the health care debate? You don't care? You don't know? I have followed your postings for a while and I am confused.
Friend
Of course I care! But it is confusing, I don't think it is so cut and dry as the" liberals" on facebook make it sound. Also, every time someone makes a comment against what the "liberals" believe, they get shot down and made to feel like heathens. I am definitely FOR Health care reform, it is just in what form that I am not sure of.

While there is always hypocrisy on either side of a political debate, the actions of individuals do not invalidate the larger concepts. And while people are entitled to their own opinions they are not entitled to their own facts. We are seeing people in Town Halls shout "tell the government to keep their hands of my Medicare" when in fact it is the government that provides Medicare. People who are afraid that those on welfare will get health care for free. When they already do, it is called Medicade. And that what is being proposed is the government take over of health care. When what is being proposed is reform to health insurance and a public option of health insurance.
For the rest of us there is a free market for health care. If you can afford access to it, American health care is indeed the best in the world. But there are many who cannot afford it. Many buy health insurance but are denied the very services they bought that insurance for in the first place at just the time that they need it most. In my "liberal" mind that is immoral. And in my judgment, those who don't care about these things are acting immorally.
I am open to the suggestion of others as to how to solve these problems. But I also think that there are problems is "cut and dry".
