There were more protesters outside of a Dalai Lama event I went to last year then at President Obama's rally today in Minneapolis...What gives?
Did we win? Have they given up?
Last year I got a chance to see the Dalai Lama speak in Madison, and I found it strange that there were about 200-300 people outside protesting him, shouting out "Dalai Lama, stop lying". Well it turns out that there was some religious spirit that he declared 'evil' More info here
Well back to my point, because today I went to see Obama at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis today, and the amount of protesters was well, kinda sad. I'd estimate that 15,000 people showed up for the rally, with a VAST majority of them cheering for the president, and honestly I did not see a single anti-reform person in the building.
Outside the building I was able to count the number of signs against reform on my fingers. Seriously! That and their meek shouts were drowned out by the crowd and other Pro-healthcare folks.
So what does this mean? I honestly think that that plus the reports that I just heard about the DC tea party being equally underwhelming, that popular outrage has finally fizzled out?
