John King tried his very best to get Robert Gibbs to call Sarah Palin a liar today. It appears that he has once again decided for us all that there must be two "equal" sides to every story, even to the point of trying to make it so himself.
A few days ago Joe Wilson screamed out "You lie!" at the President of the United States during a speech before the United States Congress. This type of rude outburst is something that far exceeds anything that has been seen in modern history. On top of that, the facts surrounding the issue in question--in terms of what is actually in the House bill--support the President's assertions. Following Wilson’s gross break in protocol he was roundly and deservedly criticized in the media for a couple of days.
Today, John King did his level best to try to get Robert Gibbs to give him a sound bite of Gibbs calling Sarah Palin a liar. Pointing out that the President called the death panels meme a lie and that Sarah Palin had uttered that same meme on several occasions, King pressed Gibbs to announce to everyone what that made Palin.
We all know the game that King was playing--sound bite fishing. Wow, if King could coax Gibbs into calling Sarah Palin a liar, we could have a couple of days of "equal liar calling" coverage.
Well, I have some real news for the hack that is John King. SARAH PALIN IS A LIAR. And you know what else? Your job is not to get Robert Gibbs to call her a liar, your job is to point out that she is a liar based on the facts as they are.
While I am at it, I should point out to John King that Joe Wilson is also a liar. Not that it would matter to John King, but the freaking facts are that the House bill contains specific language denying illegal aliens from receiving benefits from the health care reform.
What is wrong with our media? Out of all of the media’s talking heads, there are only a couple of them (thank you Rick Sanchez) that actually do what once was called journalism. Once upon a time the media would call a lie a lie as part of their job responsibilities. What we have now is a virtually useless blathering of fools searching for ratings with an agenda to protect their corporate sponsors.
Finally, on a slightly different subject, I think that spouses should not be allowed to participate in so called "round table" discussions. James Carville is not nearly as aggressive as he once was with Mary Matalin (gee I wonder why), and Dana Bash as one of the "best on political analysts on TV" (per John King) might better be described as John King’s co-hack.
