Rush Limbaugh has pulled back the last remains of the curtain which is hiding the right wing's racist thrust.
As reported by Rush, some black kids beat up a white kid on a school bus. Yes, the attack was unprovoked, nauseating, criminal, and shocking. Yet, Rush tells his legions of followers that this attack on a white kid, by black kids, is sure evidence that "in Obama's America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering."
Today's leading face seems to be Tea Party's leader Mark Williams. As we saw on CNN Mark Williams likes to refer to the president as the "racist in chief." Or, as they say on the blog, Obama is an "Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and a racist in chief." If Obama is a "racist" that means he is unfairly targeting whites while giving blacks an advantage. The main thrust is that HCR is somehow a "racist" policy. We have certainly seen racism used when conservatives have tried to cut aid to those in legitimate need. As our racist friends have tried to assert "welfare is for fat, fried chicken eating, Cadillac driving, black mothers, who had all those kids for more handouts." This is pretty much the same argument the right wing nuts are now employing with HCR. Specifically, Obama is being depicted as a black man taking money and health care from white folks and redistributing it to black people who are too lazy and dumb to be American enough to get it for themselves. Hence, Obama is a racist because he is taking from the hard working whites and giving to the lazy blacks.
Now we have Rush - "in Obama's America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering."
We also had Joe Wilson calling the Obama a liar. But naturally this historic rant had nothing to do with Obama's color. It just happen to be that Wilson fought to keep the Confederate flag flying and thought accusing Strum of having sex with a black woman was a "slur." When Crazy Joe tells us "I let my emotions get the best of me" he isn't talking about emotions tied to HCR but rather, he is talking about that bubbling up of racism which makes it just too hard to have a black president telling him what to do and how to do it.
But in case some poor ass thinks I'm all wet on this I'll let Jimmy Carter tell us the real dope(see below).
I dislike racists and want to believe this hate is born of ignorance. Ignorance which will be overcome. Yet, what really makes me mad is not the racists but rather the institutional concerns which have decided to use the racist undercurrent to promote their agenda.
We saw Bush Sr.'s people use the sad fact of racism to win when they pulled out the Willie Horton crap. They basically told us that if we voted in Dukakis he would let the large black men have their way with our pure white women. They acted like it was a race neutral agenda and yet, they used an image of a black man who had raped a white woman.
Now the health care industry has gone back to the well. They, along with their right wing beneficiaries, have decided to use race again. The message is loud and clear - "This black man is going to take white working people's money, and health care, to benefit his lazy welfare brethren." Just enough timber to light the fire of racism to battle HCR. It worked in the past and it is working today.
I'm going to go vomit now.
When I think of the health care industry and those right wing racists all I can think of is Blazing Saddles. A guy on top of a building screaming how the new sheriff is a.......
