If one didn't know that my area's Taliban congressman, Pete Sessions (TX-32) is no friend of average folks, check out his comments condemning President Obama's speech calling for robust healthcare reform.
Sessions, who didn't mince any words in spreading lies and disinformation against Obama's proposal during his August townhall meetings, was no different in his attacks after our president's speech.
More below.
If you didn't know that "Taliban Pete" lives in an alternative universe from the rest of us, here's part of what he said:
"Tonight, President Obama launched another prime time sales pitch for a government-run health care product that the American people have already undeniably rejected. The American people don’t want another speech – they want a better plan.
What part of the polls showing clear support of Obama's health care plan, especially the public option, doesn't Sessions understand? Or is he so committed to keeping our totally broken health care system intact that Sessions is so willing to say anything, even lies, to bring about the defeat of Obama's plan.
With Dallas County, part of Sessions' district having gone Democratic in each of the last three election cycles (yes, Obama did carry Dallas County last year), I hope Sessions is confronted by the strongest possible challenger next year.
I hope that challenger confronts Sessions with his lies and disinformation and his demonstrated interest in serving the interests of the rich and powerful against average constituents like me.
This may be a brief diary, but I sure hope there will be a stiff challenge to Sessions next year.
NOTE: "Taliban Pete" doesn't seem too interested in keeping decorum in the House when it comes to the rude "You Lie!" rant of Joe Wilson. He voted against the House resolution condemning Wilson's conduct.
