I don't understand why they can't just do that, give those of us that want to, the option to buy into medicare, before we're 65.
Medicare has among the highest satisfaction rate of any healthcare plan. It's simple, no hassle, you don't have to fight to make sure a certain procedure is covered, or that your care gets paid for. There is a reason why seniors LOVE medicare.
30% of money given to insurance companies goes into profit, overhead and beuracracy. 3% of money paid into medicare goes into overhead and bueracray. So of course, I would personally prefer the option to buy into the simpler more efficient system. Many people would. What's wrong with giving us that option.
So just let those of us who want in, buy into medicare
There's a lot of stupidity and misinformation out there, and the best way to avoid it is to keep it EXTREMELY simple.
If you want to buy into medicare, you can. If you're happy as you are, you stick with what you have.
All we need is a simple paragraph that says...
"Any legal US resident that wants to may buy into Medicare coverage can, regardless of age. The identification requirements are the same as they are under Medicare. All requirements are the same as they are under medicare..."
That's it, add in a blurb about how much it'll cost to join medicare at a younger age, keep the whole thing under a page. Short enough that even the laziest person, or even the most dishonest rightwing politician, or dumbest right wing commentator can't misrepresent what it says.
