Senator Mike Johanns (R-Nebraska) stated the ACORN has received $53 million dollars since 1994. So, due to the misbehavior of a handful of ACORN employees the entire organization is assumed guilty and all funding is withdrawn (a GOP lead effort).
The GOP has set a precedent where if an individual of an organization is found guilty of corruption, the entire organization itself is by extension, corrupt.
Meanwhile, contractors hired to rebuild Iraq were given billions of dollars, but failed to fulfill the contracts. Billions of no-bid taxpayer money - vanished into thin air. Instead of defunding Halliburton, we reward them with over 600 million dollars worth of contracts in Afghanistan.
Self-righteous outrage from GOP politicians over the former, a wink & pat on the back over the latter.
In light of the ACORN debacle, you'd think that the GOP would have spontaneously combusted over exponentially higher amounts of "waste" in Iraq. The lack of anger and outrage over Iraq contractor fraud and waste in Iraq is proof positive that the GOP could care less about government waste.
Republicans are on the warpath. Their only goal is to undermine and subvert public services, government, and organizations who strive to make both work in a more just and fair manner.
