I'm going to hurl myself onto the great, flaming sword of outrage from certain corners here, but I'm going to point out that McCaskill's assault on the "pay nothing to us, we'll help you get the fatty scooter money you deserve" industry is about to cause significant conniptions in wingnut land.
I can hear the building howls of outrage now from parents' basements, red state congressional offices and red district Wal-Marts across the land - "KEEP YOUR GOVERNMENT HANDS OFF OUR GOVERNMENT PROVIDED FATTY SCOOTERS".
Assaulting Courageous Capitalistical Fatty Scooter Providers
SEN. CLAIRE MCCASKILL (D-MO.): Well, I don't know how many ads you've seen for scooters on cable TV, but I see a lot of them. Those are scooters paid for by the American people, and a lot of them are going to folks who don't need scooters.
It's one example of many examples where we are paying for services or things instead of outcomes. And I think it's very important that we start focusing on the patient and what's good for the patient rather than five or 10 or eight CAT scans in one week so docs and hospitals are trying to pay for those machines.
There's lots of things we can do without cutting any of the services. And rankly, Medicare Advantage, with all due respect to Orrin, we just transferred a lot of taxpayer money to insurance companies. It hasn't brought down the cost of Medicare. It hasn't improved the services.
On this, I happen to think she's right. Why do I suspect that this is going to be the next predictable howl? Because somebody makes a bunch of money from providing the things, and because they're starting to whimper about it over at the FReak.
Here is a perfect example of how the Democrats' Government Health Care would inevitably result in rationing of care. It has not even passed, and McCaskill is already talking about what the Government can get rid of in order to pay for their massive plan.
