Let's see what's going on.

Update 1: TeleSur has just shown footage of Hugo Chavez speaking in a classroom in Venezuela, congratulating Manuel Zelaya on his return.
Update 2: Patricia Rodas, President Zelaya's foreign minister, is confirming the news on TeleSur.

Update 6: Micheletti speaking to press. Denies that Zelaya is in the country. Says it is a media stunt to bring Zelaya's supporters to Tegucigalpa. Micheletti is definitely in Honduras and appears unconcerned.
Update 7: TeleSur says it has "concretely" confirmed Zelaya's presence. If anyone finds a camera feed from outside the Tegucigalpa UN offices, please let us know. Channel 36 is offline. TeleSur's cameras were kicked out of Honduras months ago, and Channel 11 is still airing telenovelas. I expect it has a camera crew on the way.
Update 8: CNN in Spanish reporting that the U.S. State Department has confirmed Zelaya's presence in Tegucigalpa.
Update 9: Al Giordano, who has provided sterling coverage from the ground in Honduras via Narco News, is reporting in the comment thread below that cell phones are blocked in Tegucigalpa.

Channel 11 Internet stream has been interrupted.
Update 11: President Zelaya is calling for his full cabinet to return to Tegucigalpa.
Update 12: El País newspaper in Madrid is reporting UN says Zelaya is not in its Tegucigalpa offices. UN spokesperson Ana Elsy Mendoza said "we don't know where this information came from, but I can say with absolute certainty that it is not true." (h/t lysias)

Update 15: Riot police on scene. Police helicopter circling demonstrators.
Update 16: In interview with TeleSur, Zelaya calls for a peaceful dialogue and calls for restraint from all sides.
Update 17: Demonstrators now congregated outside the Brazilian embassy. Folks, I'm on borrowed time. There's a thunderstorm in Guatemala and I've lost Internet access twice this morning. Bets08 has offered a new diary. Let's rec it up when it appears! Whoops, betson08's diary was rejected. If anyone does a new diary, I'll post the link here (assuming I'm still online).
