This is just weird. In a promo on the CBS website for Katie Couric's interview with Glenn Beck tonight, Beck actually says that "John McCain would have been worse for the country than Barack Obama." So, the man that Beck has been demonizing all year long, the man who staffs his administration with czars and wants FEMA to set up concentration camps to round up all the true patriots of the country, thinks that a Viet Nam war hero would have been even worse?
This could start a backlash from his base of wild-eyed tea baggers.
You can't just stir up a hornet's nest, scaring them to the bones about death panels, terrorist associations, communists, socialists, brothels for underage girls--and most of all scary black people--and then blithley say that a man of the people, a white war hero, a non-scary old guy who could be collecting social security if he were not still hard at work in the Senate, would be even worse. It totally undermines everything he's been saying about Obama. Wingers may not like McCain, but they're certainly not afraid of him!
Beck Backlash
That's a headline we might see later this week. Or, more likely, Beck Backpedals. This remark will draw an apology as he tries to hold new anti-Beck sentiment at bay. Or lots of explanation of "what he really meant."
His remark will make the tea baggers heads explode and will either expose him as a fraud or take the sting out of his various future attacks.
Keith and Rachel should loop this comment extensively!
