The first diary chronicled GM telling the US to take a hike; that they weren't going to help anymore to clean up the mercury poisoning mess they'd helped create. That was then, this is now.
Forbes broke this AP story today.
Another example of how our tax dollars, our government, and an end run around due process are really paying off for the American people and our troubled economy...
As is usual for the forward looking AP, I'm not supposed to even acknowledge I've read this.

Okay, Ed Neidermeyer of The Truth About Cars, a brutally honest take-no-prisoners car review magazine (no dinosuars they) reports that Forbes is reporting GM is creating a China Science Lab at its Shanghai manufacturing facilities where development work will take place on advanced vehicle technologies.
They won't tell the government or taxpayers (yes, us poor slobs who bought, paid for, and still don't own GM)how much od our money is going into China, but
(GM) has said it will hire 100 employees from China and abroad to form the initial staff. John Du, the former manager of Intel’s China Research Center, will supervise work at the new lab, which will focus on "advanced engine technology, battery cells, safety research, driverless vehicles and light materials."
Hmmm. Let's see, future technology research, green tech, green jobs, new jobs, good paying jobs that will result in even more good paying green jobs....Hell yes, China for sure, who the heck needs anything like that here? Least of all the country that kept GM's sorry ass from disappearing like yet another dinosaur.
Just last December Ypsilanti MI gave GM huge tax breaks in an attempt to keep some jobs there. Willow Run employed thousands of workers for decades, back through B-24 production that helped win WWII.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation has worked hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks and direct subsidies into GM incentives to keep jobs local.
In return, GM has decided China is the future.
