How serious is Bush about keeping us safe? He chose someone over Clarke for the 2 slot in the Homeland Security Agency over Clarke. Must have been some superstar right? Wrong, it was former blowjob prosecutor Asa Hutchinson, who was one of the keystone cops from the House of Reps. who prosecuted clinton in the Senate. Well, there's a qualification -here's more
Under Secretary for Border & Transportation Security: Asa Hutchinson
Asa Hutchinson was appointed to his current position by President George W. Bush and confirmed by a unanimous vote of the U.S. Senate in January 2003.
As Under Secretary for Border and Transportation Security at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Hutchinson leads a directorate of over 110,000 employees and is responsible for coordinating the enforcement activities of our borders, transportation and immigration systems.
. . . Prior to coming to DHS, Hutchinson served as a Member of Congress from Arkansas from 1997-2001. While in Congress, Hutchinson served on the Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Judiciary Committee. After being re-elected to his third term, he was appointed as Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), where he combined tough law enforcement initiatives with advocating increased investment in treatment and education programs. Prior to his election to Congress, Hutchinson practiced law in rural Arkansas for 21 years and tried over 100 jury trials. During this time, he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. At the age of 31, he was the youngest U.S. Attorney in the nation."

Boy, do I feel safe.
But wait, there's more - ". . . Hutchinson is an excellent choice for a homeland security post, said William "Bud" Harper, director of the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management and the state's homeland security contact.
"I am pleased that we have a person of his character, background and ability to represent the country in this most crucial and important position he might fill," Harper said.
He pointed to Hutchinson's tenure as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas when he prosecuted a paramilitary terrorist group in northern Arkansas called the Covenant, Sword and Arm of the Lord.
"We feel that in the heartland, we could be a target of some kind of terrorist statement," Harper said. "We need people of his caliber to represent us at the national level."

So, in honor of Bush's leadership in the War on Terror, a poll to see who is NOT more qualified than Hutchison for a top job in the War on Terror
