John Fund has a ridiculous
piece today suggesting that Tom Brokaw, of all people, would be a good VP candidate for Kerry. It's telling, that, in the entire article, there is no mention of his qualifications for the office, only his star power and, for some reason, the fact that Republicans are intimidated by such a prospect. There were rumblings about a possible Brokaw-for-President campaign last year, but they went nowhere, possibly because the man himself was smart enough to know he'd be ridiculed for running for President as his first political office. But...
..As unlikely as this is to actually happen, it did get me thinking: there are plenty of "out-of-the-box" possibilities for the VP slot. CEOs, celebrities, academics, millionaire tycoons, and public figures of all kinds. Some would be more qualified than others. I'd choose Rubin over Trump, for instance. Or Oprah over Dr. Phil. So throw out your craziest ideas below, and try to convince me: (1) why they would make good ticketmates for Kerry, and (2) why they would be able to be President if circumstances warranted.
Note: I'm half-serious here. Only throw out a name if you can back it up with some reasons why he/she could be - if a long shot - a real possibility.
