Here's one for the "only in California" files: A career politician, fired as governor and replaced by an actor, has hired a Hollywood agent to manage his own budding acting career.
And now ousted Gov. Gray Davis is starring in a television ad campaign for Yahoo! search engines.
In the 30-second spot, he pokes fun at his own political demise in last fall's recall election, saying he uses Yahoo! to search for a new career.
"I used to be governor of California," Davis says just before the camera cuts to him chuckling.
The ad - part of a campaign that portrays celebrities and real people who use Yahoo! search engines - features Davis speaking in a free-flowing format on a split screen with a young girl named Ashley who said the search engine helped her win the eighth-grade class treasurer's post.
"I search on Yahoo! I'm looking for an agent," he says as "Hail to the Chief" plays in the background. "An actor got to be governor, maybe a former governor can go into acting."
