My health insurance concerns and what reform might want to address
Health care? GRUMBLE, GRUMBLE...
Health care... Again, folks... Health care. .. Who needs it?!?!? Do I have ANYBODY'S attention? HEALTH CARE! WHO NEEDS IT?
Well..., I do. I work for a municipality (for the last 17+ years) who covers my healthcare costs (so far, even though rates went up... again, for the 5th or 6th year in a row). My children do. Even though a divorce court decree stipulated that I keep my children's health care, I would have done so anyway, because that is what a man does... takes care of his children (in one of many ways, even though rates went up... again, for the 5th or 6th year in a row). My wife needs acces to healthcare.
She doesn't have any insurance, and won't go to see any doctor even though she might need to, because of the fact that she "might have a pre-existing condition" if she is ever able to find a job in this area and economy.
Oooohhhhhhh... Hmmmmmm... Gee, I guess there lies the crux of my dilemna. For $508.00 a month extra (minimum), I can get my wife insured and on my health insurance plan! Yea! Yippee! All Right! YESSSS!... HIGH FIVE! oh... hmm... well, I'm already paying monthly for my kids' medical health insurance, retirement, Child Support, Social Security, FICA... Damn! Did I - no I didn't mention, that yesterday's paycheck was $664.@ for half of a month's worth of work? (I did mention previously, didn't I, that I've been with this same particular municipality fot 17+ years).
HEALTH CARE!!! I WANT this for my wife! Damn It! Guess what? i can't afford to... i'm embarrassed by this, because i can't afford to put my wife on my insurance plan!!!? Damn! Come on people, get righteous! I WANT the public health care option!!!
I cannot have my health-care provider changed from what it is and they are also the health insurance company to which we have access. I cannot have my childrens' health-care provider changed from what it is. I WILL accept a Government health care option! I've checked into health insurance policies for my wife, but the CHEAPEST I CAME ACROSS WAS $168.@@/month with an un-godly deductible... (Can I re-direct your attention to 2 paragraphs earlier when I mention my bi-monthly pay-check?!?) and was trash insurance anyway.
Look people, my wife means the world to me. She IS my world! She currently doesn't have any health care because of being laid off in 2008, but she could sure use a check-up, or an orthopedist for her knees, or a G.I. Doc (had insurance last year when her gall bladder was removed, but not anymore)...!
It pisses me off when I hear about "death-panels," and that the Democrats/Government are going to put the health-care business out of business, or that the "public option" will cut out Medicare/Medicaid benefits to/for the elderly (according to my 73 y/old father-in-law who watches FOX News). Wake up and smell the roses! Read the Democratic proposal! Listen to President Obama tell people over and over and over what he's thinking of to HELP US...!
Way to go Rep. Alan Grayson!!! You Rock!
I have always voted as an Independent (45 y/o WM), and have ALWAYS voted for a Republican Presidential candidate... until November 2008. For the first time ever (despite being an Air Force brat), I voted for a Democratic Presidential candidate. And guess what folks, I am proud of it!
