KathrynW punched in this financial terrorism first. Back in March:

Financial Terrorists of Wall Street.

When FPI's stock tanked, they found they could not get financing to expand production and meet the DoD orders.

KathrynW's piece based on this: Hedge Funds sabotage article.

The image full size is
HERE.

This sabotage was done to steal money. It was done by a conspiracy of Wall Street operations calling themselves "hedge funds." The details of how someone could make money do not matter. Just the effects.

These "hedge fund" perps might as well have been working for al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Killing American troops while engaging in an illegal act that has wartime endangerment as a practical consequence is murder. U.S. Code. Precedent.

The sabotage aspect appears, as well, to put this series of sabotage actions inside the definition for treason.

Enough is enough. Americans died over this one. There's boys who are quadriplegics, too.

Organized Crime Strike Force -- and no excuses as how SEC bureaucrats can't quite write regs.

This doesn't have anything to do with how "naked shorts" is funny and how DTCC is owned by the perps.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    Not a step short.

These SOBs attacked 1,000 companies, did all the damage they could, and wiped out 1,200,000 jobs directly.

These criminals killed hundreds of troops in Iraq by keeping them from getting the right equipment.

After the MRAPs got there, in some 300 IED blasts on them only one soldier was killed. His MRAP rolled over and he was in the turret on top.

WASHINGTON — More than two years before the Marine commandant declared getting new armored vehicles his top priority, the Corps did not fulfill an urgent request to buy 1,200 of the vehicles for troops in Anbar province, according to Marine officials and documents.

Commanders in Anbar, the heart of the Sunni insurgency in Iraq, wanted the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles to protect troops attacked by insurgents using improvised explosive devices (IEDs), according to a Feb. 17, 2005, request filed by then-brigadier general Dennis Hejlik.

The stock was overvalued. It came down. That's what happens when you have one customer and a 13% gross margin. The company has 121 Million in cash on hand in 2008. In 2006 it had a 156 million in cash on hand. That was when you claim they had no money.

Now you go ahead and tell me why they weren't able to get funding, who wouldn't loan to them when in that period of time, banks were loaning to anyone.

Study: MRAP refusal led to Marine deaths

Delay should be investigated, author says
By Richard Lardner - The Associated Press
              Posted : Tuesday Feb 19, 2008 16:14:50 EST

Hundreds of Marines have been killed or injured by roadside bombs in Iraq because Marine Corps bureaucrats refused an urgent request in 2005 from battlefield commanders for blast-resistant vehicles, an internal military study concludes.

The study, written by a civilian Marine Corps official and obtained by The Associated Press, accuses the service of "gross mismanagement" that delayed deliveries of the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected trucks for more than two years.

Cost was a driving factor in the decision to turn down the request for the so-called MRAPs, according to the study. Stateside authorities saw the hulking vehicles, which can cost as much as a $1 million each, as a financial threat to programs aimed at developing lighter vehicles that were years from being fielded.

After Defense Secretary Robert Gates declared the MRAP the Pentagon’s No. 1 acquisition priority in May 2007, the trucks began to be shipped to Iraq in large quantities.

Marines, in fact, got on board ASAP after the Buffalo demo but they were second in line after Army.

Gates immediately moved enough money to pay for anya and all MRAPs from DoD qualified providers.

  •  Study: Lack of MRAPs cost Marine lives (0+ / 0-)

Updated 2/16/2008 12:36 PM |  Comments 323  |   By Ray Locker,— More than 700 U.S. troops died from roadside bombs because the Marine Corps' devotion to a military vehicle years away from deployment kept it from buying available Mine Resistant, Ambush Protected (MRAP) trucks, according to an internal Marine report obtained Friday by USA TODAY.  Instead of fulfilling an urgent Marine request from the field for 1,169 vehicles in February 2005, Marine Corps leaders and analysts delayed fielding the MRAPs, and instead bought more armored Humvees, the report written by Marine science adviser Franz Gayl says.

    •  There was no production capacity available 2005. (0+ / 0-)

A request in February 2005 would have come through testing and procurement in 2007.

      That's how Pentagon works.

No one ever turned down the Buffalo.

Humvee or other armor gets disabled by IED attack. Troops killed by mass RPG ambush. One system could have defeated them. We didn't buy it. NIH.

The Procurement delayed it . Not wall street. There was African vehicles ready to ship in 2005. They were turned down. $200,000 each. The DoD preferred the million dollar ones. A Non sequitur? It's  not a diversion. You are just flat out wrong and you can't admit it.

You haven't shown one piece of evidence other than a video splice that they didn't have the funds. in 2006 , They had 156 Million. They ran negative cash of 65 Million in 2007 when sales jumped 400% to 896 Million (896 Vehicles). They had positive flow in 2009 at 1.4 Billion. With a 3 percent net margin.  A manufacturer who has sales jump 400% is lucky it doesn't go out of business with 13% Gross margins. If you had ever manufactured  something you would know that. Too much time with your spreadsheets there? Try running a manufacturing plant and get back to me.

You like stats?  Market cap is currently 386 Million or a PE of 11, at it's height in 2007 it 's market cap was 2.4 Billion with 896 Million in sales and 24 Million in profit. With a 13 % margin and one customer and negative cash flow, that is what is commonly referred to as a wildly overvalued company that no shortage of press releases would have helped push that valuation up to nose bleed levels and attracted shorts like flys to shit.  2.4 Billion Mkt cap with 24 Million in profit? I 've seen valuations like that with fast growth companies that have large margins, more than one customer, a proprietary product or products. But never on a contract manufacturer with 1 Customer.

They still made out like bandits. As far as the troops not getting it because of Wall Street. No proof at all. The Procurement boys kept that from happening. They wouldn't even buy the vehicles in South Africa as a fill in . They were built , ready to go. They would have filled in until the procurement assholes got their shit together.

          •  Army? Then you better get your contractors right (0+ / 0-)

and get the model right too. The Army was using the  RG-31 or the MMPV. It was produced My count 6 manufacturers and had first models in country in 2003 and 2004.

BAE, Lockheed, and all the majors were in on multiple models. The main problem as the article mentioned was shipping costs at $750,000 per vehicle and finding planes large enough to bring them in. They used some Russian Cargo Jets which could hold 3.

The marines are getting shit. The army isn't. Your Force Protection was a bit player in all this. That's why their stock got the shit knocked out of it. But hey: having 150 Million in the bank in 2009 and shares at $5.86 is sure better than a $1.92 in 2004 and 24 cents in 2002 reverse split adjusted.

The first DoD buy was 9 units. 2003-2004 models.

Turns out there were 4 KIAs with RG-31. Compared with the 3,000 using HUMVEE and Stryker. Stryker is not mine-resistant.

I'll find out when I get to the Insider trading. But not today. You have already been Pwned. You insulted and demeaned and got it right back. Enough is enough. I have proven to myslef satisfactorily that you are taking a Bush like attitude to this with no fexibility and no allowance that you could be wrong.

Even if the short sellers had oversold the stock, they had good reason to be skeptical of this company. In fact at it's lowest point after the shorts attacked, the stock was still 150% higher than what it was in 2004, gives no credence to the concept that they were unable to get financing. There is all kinds of financing available to public companies from secondaries, to receivable financing, to DoD advances on PO, Venture capital Equity stakes , Bond issuance, simple bank loans on receivables and inventory. Interest rates were low in 08-07. Lending hadn't tightened up.

That's before we get into Insider selling. If it's like I suspect, The insiders sold during the running up from 1.92 to $30 and could have loaned the company money and made interest on it.

This is nothing more than a fart in a high wind and you are barking up the wrong tree.

for corporate criminals, it's questionable that the thieves could reasonably be expected to know that what they were doing could prevent the acquisition of a potentially life-saving vehicle.  Deaths occurring as a result of a crime are only murder if there is a reasonable expectation that perpetrators could know it was a serious possibility - e.g., if stealing a guy's wallet means he doesn't have money for medication, and then dies because of that, it's dubious to charge the pickpocket with murder.

...Defense contracting can be a cutthroat business, and this could easily be an example of that. Combining FPI's own production problems early on and the entry into the market of bigger, more connected players may have done more damage to their stock that naked shorters.

I'm willing to be convinced. But I'm not yet.

    Science is just a theory.

The little one is a toughie.

Try the link to the bigger one.

      HERE .

You're seeing more counterfeit shares sold, than real ones issued/outstanding from FPI.

The scam soaked all the buy orders.

Its possible that another contractor -- a Lockheed or BAE -- could have gotten in bed with a criminalized prop.

More likely a bank, despite olden times traditions.

      Or a competitor from overseas.

Gotta believe, though, that digging out who did this scam is important. Important enough to do an expensive prosecution.

I'd certainly agree with banning any DoD partner to this for a decade. Fire everybody involved... at the least.

me.  There are a bunch of people out there that actually believe these days that hedge funds are the last bastions of 'free markets' due to the distortions in the stock markets created by government interventionist policies (the distortions are true, the conclusion is not).  But its not just hedge funds, its all the options trading and what not...they're the day traders from the dot com era..now betting on..is the price going up or going down and when.  I work with someone who lost $12k the other week doing this crap and was whining some, wish I could hand him an anchor to tie around his neck and take him to the lake for a soothing swim.  As it should be for people who defend this crap that has zero positive effect on this country, the markets or the economies around the world.

Argentina was destroyed by this practice in 2001 and other common financial market practices.  These very people are doing it what happened to Argentina to this country as well... They'll deny it as usual.

The sooner the disintegration of the dollar and/or markets really comes, the better.  Its obvious to me there is zero political will in the federal government, DOD or anywhere else in this country to stop corrupt practices that are rampant and dominate all aspects of the 'markets'.

Theodore Butler has been fighting the naked short sellers for years with the CFTC as has other organizations and individuals, CFTC won't do its job of course because they have non-regulators in jobs of regulators (like Geitner was).  All the the defenders of this corrupt practice say 'prove it, prove it' and 'can I see the link to your evidence' and all kinds of crap like that ... always ... never ends .. like parrots responding to a human voice.  Can they prove they're not financial psycho's driven by greed?  No, they can't.  "Can I have a link to the evidence that your not a profit driven psycho who will defend corrupt practices to the death?".  They don't have the link either.

Proof never shows up until the entity doing or targeted by the practice gets wasted or severely damaged ... its called the shadow financial market and 'dark pools of liquidity'.

acquired by filing at SEC and then paying for the copies.

SEC sat on these data for years.

      Protecting the perps.

"Regulatory Capture" is the usual term for it in the financial literature.

A Federal prosecution for illegal trading, sabotage and/or murder will be needed to get the exact details -- who did it.

The graph data only has the totals for FPI.

        do no reporting.

But they are also - reportedly -- absolutely tight with respect to preventing naked_short phantom/counterfeit stock sales.

Sales at the Dark Pools are validated to inventory BEFORE they're posted.

Dark Pools have been taking business away from the supposedly regulated (LOL...) Exchanges. Getting close to 20% of overall volume.

Gotta think that avoiding frontrunning scams, the crazy microsecond manipulations at 70% of daily transaction volume, and these phantom stock scams are the reasons for that success.

The Dark Pools are managed and tightly controlled.

We could do that for NYSE/NASD, but they don't want it.

is shining some light on the dark pools of cockroaches.  Though as much as I like Matt's material, he's way late and $26 trillion of wiped out world wealth off.  The contrarian investors have been suspecting and investigating it as much as they can for years now but have no legal authority.  The regulators have roadblocked all of it or say they investigated and tell everyone to move along, nothing to see here.

          http://taibbi.rssoundingboard.com/

I just buy precious metals in physical form and wait.  The PM markets are the most downward manipulated in the world, Barrick gold just released info they have to dilute their shares by offering 81 million new shares to cover $3 billion of a total of $9 billion of short bets gone bad on their own product.  If a thinking person connects the dots which I think you are definitely one of those people, the conclusion that Barrick's hedges were a concerted effort perhaps a collusion with Wall Street and bankers to keep the price of precious metals low to make the dollar look strong.  Its gonna give up the ghost sometime and I fully intend to be one of the beneficiaries when the full scale of the fraud is well known and trillions come running to the last bastion of real money instead of fiat currency that is printed like tulips of the tulip mania centuries ago.  All things with totally elastic supply that is out of control with speculation collapse.

Matt has a video of naked short selling in the articles at the link: http://www.youtube.com/...

At seventeen seconds, at the bottom, you see that the firm Penson has now approved the trade and" located" the multibillion amount of shares. The trade goes through.

That's the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle--the program to create the HMMWV replacement.
Both the Army and the Marines kept from buying MRAP, M1117, and other vehicles that were ready at the time because Rumsfeld and company had already said that no extra money would be spent (to do so would be to admit they were wrong about the war.)
So they kept buying up-armored-HMMWV, even as they knew it wasn't getting the job done because money for MRAPs would take away money from JLTV, which is where the future of light-wheeled ground vehicles is.

    •  2003-2004-2005 you're right on. (0+ / 0-)

The newer Buffalo got approved in 2005.

Then the internal fight over HUMVEE vs. MRAPs kinda showed the truth of your main point. Rumsfeld was a mad man.

But by 2007, the Army buy for many MRAPs through FPI is what got short-circuited by this illegal "phantom stock" sabotage, together with a Media Cancer attack on their reputation.

The "up-armored-HMMWV" program was a multi-billion dollar scam. And the JLTV Joint Light Tactical Vehicle project got wound up in Future Combat System arguments.

Its not clear what to do with HMMVW/Humvee. Its not a combat vehicle. There's no frame. No way to protect from the common mines/bombs/suicide-attacks.

When Israel went into Lebanon, they left every one of their Humvees back in Israel. They used their M113s and V-hull armored cars for APC missions.
