It will be interesting to see what the reactions are to this bit of news.
As reported by the Associated Press, a woman in Lebanon, PA, who had her carry permit revoked for taking her gun to a soccer game (and reinstated after she sued), has been shot dead.
Seems that she and her husband were having marital problems and it has initially been ruled a murder-suicide.

I expect to see the usually flurry of gun control pro/cons ensuing.
Personally, I've always had a difficult time with the entire issue of gun control and the right to carry. While I do agree that the Constitution guarantees the "Right to bear arms", I've always felt that the right has been construed from the original intent (I'm sure that Chuck Norris will weigh into the debate and tell us what the founding fathers meant).
A quick google search brings up some interesting points on the WiseTo Issues website:
The United States is the leader in per capita gun deaths among industrial nations. This has resulted in various gun control laws at the federal and state levels that seek to reduce crime and violence by restricting private gun ownership. Supporters of gun control would like even tighter restrictions. They face strong opposition from those trying to protect what they view as the right to own and bear firearms.
On 15 December 1791 the Bill of Rights officially became a part of the Constitution. Few of its provisions are as controversial as the Second Amendment. A pressing question remains whether it protects the individual right to keep guns or the collective right of the people for security through a militia. The wording of the amendment is responsible for the confusion.

This picture scares the crap out of me. Many years ago, I officiated high school football. More than once, I was threatened with bodily harm because of calls I made TO REGULATE A GAME. I can honestly say based on the areas were we where, combined with the crowd atmosphere (a perennial champion losing to a perennial doormat), that I would have been shot if there were guns there.
Why the hell would anyone need a gun at a kid's soccer game???
Update 2:
theran posts an interesting link in the comments to an article "Investigating the Link Between Gun Possession and Gun Assault"
Conclusions. On average, guns did not protect those who possessed them from being shot in an assault. Although successful defensive gun uses occur each year, the probability of success may be low for civilian gun users in urban areas. Such users should reconsider their possession of guns or, at least, understand that regular possession necessitates careful safety countermeasures
