Wonderful son...
Wonderful Dad...
and Wonderful Mom...
What more can be said about last night that hasn't already been said? Wow...
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Organization does such tireless & wonderful work; I donated in memory of Marie Olbermann & hope others do as well if you are able.
I'll note just a couple of birthdays (actually cool birthdays!) for "this day in history." Sigourney Weaver is 60 today. I bet she can still kick alien a$$! ;D
She was also in a movie of my favorites list, Galaxy Quest; it's awfully damn funny if you enjoy SciFi!
And, one of my favorite gifted curmudgeons is 70 today - Harvey Pekar. Yes, I own American Splendor. ;D
Let's Countdown!
#5 "The Public Option Option" AKA "Open Wyden" - The new public option that is now apparently all the rage in the Senate is an "opt out" public option. If Howard Dean says it’s something worth exploring, I’ll take his word for it. Basically, if a robust public option is part of a final health care reform bill, individual states can decide to NOT be a part of it. Hmmm...well, like I said the other night, living where I live (national headquarters for WellPoint & Eli Lilly), I imagine my fair state would look to opt out rather quickly. The threshold for states being able to opt out better be pretty damn high! 30 Dem Senators are still fighting for an actual honest – to – goodness public option – no triggers, opting, or nothin’! The Senate Finance Committee will vote on their version of health reform on Tuesday. Senators Schumer & Carper are the one floating this opt out stuff. Senator Nelson likes the idea of leaving this up to states, too. Senator Grassley is still complaining about the Finance Committee bill & is still harping the "pull the plug on grandma" stuff. Senator Mitch McConnell said Baucus’ turdy stink (or stinky turd) sandwich of a bill won’t see the light of day on the Senate floor. Well, at least he’s being open minded about it! Senator Ron Wyden was one of the 30 Senators on the floor today – goody for him! Senator Wyden isn’t wild about the opt out plan. Well, hell, now I’m confused. I guess I kind of come down on what I said above. If this opt out stuff is going to be in a final bill, I don’t want some crazy bat$hit Governor to be able to unilaterally say s(he) is opting out of the public option. I would want the citizens of the state in question to be able to vote on it or have the state legislatures pass a law that a Governor would have to sign. This discussion is suddenly reminding me of the stimulus funds that some bat$hit current & former Governors tried to just say no to at the expense of their citizens. I don’t want that to happen with health care. OK, I’m all for praising Keith, but Senator Wyden just sounds like he’s pandering, now. And, I absolutely positively do not want to see Senator Health Insurance Industry *itch Baucus’ bill in its current form to even get out of the committee. Now, we get Lawrence O’Donnell, and he made a good point. Is the public option that states can potentially opt out of going to be so craptacular as to not mean diddly poo anyway? I really want to hear what Howard Dean has to say about all this; I trust him on this score. Lawrence O’Donnell thinks the big sticking point when the Senate & House versions of health care reform get to conference committee will be how to pay for the mother – not the public option. 25% of the funds Maxie wants to use to pay for health care comes from a tax that the House is absolutely 1000% against. Senators don’t want individual citizens to be taxed, either.
#4 "Health Fair for All" AKA "Public Option Action" AKA "Free Health Care" - Keith is calling for us to all get behind the National Association for Free Clinics to have free clinics in the major cities of the states that Senators Baucus, Lincoln, Pryor, Nelson, Reid, and Landrieu represent; they are instrumental in blocking a potential GOP filibuster in the Senate. Keith is donating $50k to them. Nicole Lamoureux is the director & pointed out that most of the people who go to these free clinics actually have jobs. There will be 8 million patients at free clinics this year. Since last night, over 400 people donated over $30K – Wow! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
** Cabinet ministers are meeting underwater. A poor skunk in Colorado got its head stuck in a peanut butter jar. Michael Steele praised ACORN; he didn’t get the memo from Boss Limbaugh! Armstrong Williams trashed Keith. Lonesome Rhodes is telling people to buy gold, and big gold buyers are some of his few remaining sponsors. **
#3 "Bang, Zoom, to the Moon!" AKA "Shoot the Moon" - NASA is going to crash something into the moon on purpose in the morning to see if we can detect evidence of water in the fallout. And, middle school students were at the White House last night being told to study hard by President Obama; he indoctrinated those poor kids! AUGH! Won’t someone think of the children??!! ;D Buzz Aldrin & Sally Ride were there, too, so maybe that helped. Derrick Pitts was at the White House, too – LUCKY! President Obama looked through Derek’s telescope last night. How cool is that?! I’d put a plaque on it that says, "President Obama peered here!" Finding water on the moon will make space flights ultimately cheaper because we won’t have to pay for extra fuel to lug a bunch of water everywhere. Keith’s afraid of breaking the moon. My morning radio silly guys said this morning that we’d all finally find out for sure there’s green cheese in the center of it – HA!
WPITW – Critics of Boss Limbaugh are having a herd because Boss Limbaugh may buy a piece of the Rams. Senator McCentury thought a 9/11 joke about President Obama was funny; what Keith failed to mention was that the host of said FAUX Business show where the yucks took place was Don Imus!! Bat$hit Bachmann made light of stalking victims because of the attention she’s getting from Countdown and other places.
#1 "Nutjob" AKA "Nuts & Dolts" - Levi Johnston is posing for Playgirl. I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to see that. Levi’s even working out for the occasion. Tom DeLay bailed on Dancing with the Stars. Here’s Michael Musto! Oh yes! Can y’all just see Levi in a John Waters movie?! Dude, I would SO GO see that!
