From the state that brought you Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins and her quest for the "Great white hope" you bring you another one of our elected officials, state Rep. Bill Otto.
Whenever I need a good laugh, I usually go on to YouTube and search for a humorous video. We in Kansas are fortunate enough to have a state representative to provide us with laughs. Represenative Bill Otto, a Republican from the 9th District (Allen, Anderson, Coffey, Franklin and Woodson Counties) has filmed several YouTube videos over the last few years that usually leave people scratching their heads and asking, "This man is an elected official?" This weekend I found the latest video from Otto, "RedNeck Rap," this weekend and while I did nearly fall out of my seat laughing, his message in the "rap" was very concerning.
If it's not bad enough that one of our elected officials uses his youtube account to post videos of himself rapping, then take a closer listen to the lyrics of his "redneck rap".
In the rap Bill Otto takes President Obama to task for various reasons. However, his arguments seem like they came out of the mouth of Glenn Beck. Otto says we should send the Gitmo "killers" to the IRS, where they could be tortured "real hard." Nevermind these people have not faced trials to face the crimes they have been accused of, let alone his flippant endorsement of torture that should be at the hands of the IRS, a right wing scapegoat. Otto displays some strange moments of town hall-esque anger such as saying "You're printing all this money, but where's my share?"
Then Bill Otto states, "We want to keep our freedom of speech, God, and guns! So, tell your left wing radicals to cool it some!" I don't know if that was a threat, or just the delusions coming out to the open, but Rep. Otto should know that all three of those stated freedoms are not under attack. The craziness keeps coming at as he states to the President that, "...talkin' to little kids ain't your quarter." So Rep. Bill Otto, being a former educator and school administrator, supports the civic illiteracy of our children by denying them to hear from their President. Rep. Bill Otto, is also an elected official, so by the same token perhaps we shouldn't expect him to talk to any children as well. However, last year in Ottawa he visited the Kids Voting forum for candidates. By your own standards, Bill Otto, this "ain't your quarter" either.
Now, the ridiculous YouTube videos aside, Rep. Bill Otto is actually quite embarassing in the State House as well. He has a quite open contempt for the employees of the State of Kansas. Otto wrote nine frivolous amendments in the last session to cut funding from programs of which he had no knowledge of their functions, let alone their budgets. Town hall anger and propaganda is bad enough on its own, but when it is being spread by an elected legislator, it starts going way too far. The people of the 9th District deserve a better representative than Bill Otto.
