As this story seems to be the outrage du jour on the left that the WH has seemingly abandoned it's progressive base. Of course, it should be suspect once it comes from "hair on fire" blog, Americablog or PUMA Jane Hamsher (my opinion based on my view of their blogs, this shouldn't be taken as factual).
Still, the "internet left fringe" part of John Harwood's remark to MSNBC has caused quite a stir. But, Marc Ambinder has confirmed that the quote is not from any source per se, and that those words are basically Harwood's.
Ambinder: Harwood made it up
Here's Ambinder's quote:
It's important to recognize that, as for the "Internet left fringe" part of his comment, Harwood was simply saying what he thinks the White House thinks. That part, as far as I can tell, isn't directly attributable to anyone at the White House, named or unnamed. So if one is to be roiled about this clip, the quote about "pajamas," from the unnamed White House adviser, is probably a more apt provocation.
If you want to get mad at the "pajamas" part of the statement you would be on more solid ground.
But please, getting mad at the administration over an anonymous adviser's view at some on the left, when the folks who are fomenting others to be angry are completely and utterly disingenuous, that is just outrageous.
