After reading a letter to the editor of the Tri-City Herald here in Hermiston, OR, I'm convinced. Canada's system of healthcare sucks.
The letter was chock-full of stories about a 93-year-old aunt with breathing problems that had to wait 10 hours to see a doctor. And uncle so-and-so who was pushed to the back of the line for his bypass because someone needed it more. I thought to myself, "This is it. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. Thank you for writing this fact-filled letter that I might read it." I was finally convinced of the fact that Canada's system of healthcare sucks.
Not only that, the rest of the WORLD has a healthcare system that sucks. Cuba? Terrible. Norway? It is to laugh! Germany? Just because they invent life-saving machines doesn't mean they can hold a candle to France, who suck far, far worse than even the dredges of Canada! Every other nation on the planet has a healthcare system that sucks.
But at least they HAVE one. They try. The United States of America? Oh, we have healthcare for those who are really old, and nominal healthcare for those who are really broke. You know, Medicare and whatnot. But the working people? They don't have squat. They couldn't even get their hemorrhoids examined without health insurance through their employers, or insurance they paid for out of their own pockets. Yeah, right.
But just because the others countries have one doesn't mean we should have the same one. No, not at all. I'm convinced that we shouldn't have the same healthcare system as Canada or France or Germany. No.
We should have a better one. We've earned it. I work for a living and pay my taxes. I DEMAND it! I voted as I did because I think I deserve it. And others NEED it.
After all, my hemorrhoids aren't going to get any better on their own.
