This is a personal diary, so please indulge me a little...
Over the weekend, Miller Lite and eBay teamed up for a social media experiment. Every time the hashtag was used on Twitter or Facebook, 1 cent would be donated to cancer research.
Today, that hashtag hit home.
I've written a few diaries on the subject, but the short version is:
In July of this year, just days after his 23rd birthday, my brother was diagnosed with Stage IV lymphoma. Two masses were found, one on his spine (about 4cm) and another in his chest cavity (18cm). (There was a third one that was missed in the original scan that was just under a half cm as well.)
Today, we got the news that my brother did #beatcancer and is in remission. There's still some follow up work to be done, but it seems the worst is over. The rest of the day will be spent talking to various specialists to see what we do from here, but getting that news was spectacular.
I can't tell you how much this community meant to me in the initial stages of this. One outstanding member even emailed me personally to tell me his story and shed some light on what was to come. Having that little bit of light made it so much easier. The rest of the community chimed in and offered their support and for that, I am truly grateful.
Not much of a diary, but I wanted to say thanks!
