Called my Congressman, Ed Towns (NY- 10th CD, allegedly D), to be sure that he is a strong supporter of a public option (I'm a single payer gal, but reluctantly willing to settle for a strong public option). His response wimps out The aide answering the phone informed me that he would "vote for the strongest option that makes it to the floor of the House". This is the best they can come up with? What a cop-out! No, Congressman Towns, I wanted to hear that you would fight for the public option. Really, our "representatives" are off the reservation.
Just about finished reading "The Healing of America". I thought I was informed about the various options that other countries have chosen in health insurance. I was clueless. Fair, informative book that is a breeze to read. Required reading for anyone who cares about this issue (that's all of us), all members of Congress and their staffs, the President and all policy staff at the White House. If I thought they'd read it, I personally, with my middle class income, would buy them all a copy.
