So Bush and Blair have done miniaturized retractions of their former headstrong commitment to Iraq. Bush even wished he hadn't egged on the Insurgency with his "bring it on" speech.
As I listened to this guarded confession on NPR this morning, I thought of all the families who probably wished the same thing.
Yes, Bush could have and should have put it more eloquently. But to say things well, one has to think well. Bush would rather take the Cliff Notes version of intel, then spin it like a kid who only pretended to cram for his big test.
Does he regret enough?
Polls shouldn't be the wake-up call. Maybe this will occur to Bush over the holiday weekend.
