I just got done watching a Feingold-Michels debate and it was one of the best discussions of the issues I have heard in years. The Bush and Kerry campaigns should be embarrassed that they were willing to settle for the weak broth that they gave us.
The questions were quick and quickly answered. Both candidates were able to catch mistaken claims as they were made. Both traded comments quickly, generally in a friendly manner, including some light banter, but not pulling punches. My son commented on Michels' smug expression at the beginning of the debate, but it disappeared fairly quickly. Senator Feingold occasionally had his 'what an idiot' face on, but, most of the time, they were focused on the discussion and trying to make their points without regurgitating their stump speeches and talking points. Kudos to both candidates.
