Time to put your head in the microwave.
Welcome to day 45 of What The Fuck Is Going On.
Today, "Meteor Blades" pulverized the rec list. How dare he! People are upset about some kind of ambiguous action Obama isn't doing. Late breaking news of a girl in an attic, thinking she is in a balloon. Earlier this week over 300,000 calls went out from Obama for America alone pushing healthcare reform. Obviously Obama wants to kill reform!
And lo and behold, the senators are speaking:
Several Democratic senators voiced optimism on Sunday that Congress would pass a health care bill containing at least the germ of a government-run insurance program. NYT
This is obviously a GBCW diary. I cannot take the brain-itching anymore. How many days must I be confused by news articles?
Next up on the agenda,
We used to want Senator McCaskill to get some sort of cabinet position though this made little sense at the time.
Despite those awkward townhalls, she now supports a public option possible public option potential.
Speaking on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri took note of various alternatives that could pass, including the trigger mechanism or a bill that would allow states a choice to “opt in” to a federal government plan.
“I remain pretty optimistic,” she said. “I think it gets done this year and I think we end up with some opportunity to go to some kind of nonprofit.”
Even McCain is confused. I know, I know, what's new? THIS! He is optimistic for something he will not vote for:
“I think the Democrats have the votes, and in the House, Blue Dogs bark but never bite,” Mr. McCain said on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” using the nickname for conservative Democrats . “So I don’t think they have a problem over in the House side. In the Senate I think the Democrats are very aware that they don’t want a repeat of the Clinton failure in 1994. So I think it’s very likely they will get something through. But it’s not clear to me what it is.”
Also there's this gem... Republican leader McConnell doesn't understand Republicans:
Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the minority leader, said on “This Week” that “100 percent of Republicans have indicated that they don’t think having government in the insurance business is a good idea.”
Hold it there, Mitchy.
The poll asked this question: "Would you favor or oppose the government offering everyone a government administered health insurance plan -- something like the Medicare coverage that people 65 and older get -- that would compete with private health insurance plans?"
[...] among Republican respondents, 47% are in favor, to 42% opposed.
Obviously I don't know what the hell is going on anymore. Neither do you? Perhaps neither does Obama. Maybe that explains his wait-and-see. He can't executive-order this shit or program the minds of 485 lawmakers.
Perhaps healthcare reform is a hoax. Perhaps it's actually trapped in the attic.
Grab yer pickaxes. Set it free! Program the lawmakers!
