There is a saying about journalism, that when you become the news it's time to get out of the game. I believe Dan Rather made reference to it when he retired. It means that your role as a reporter is not to inject yourself into the story.
But inject themselves into the story Fox News has. Over and over again, they have allowed themselves to become the news. By hyper-sensationalizing the stories, their reporting style takes center stage over the substance.
They would like to play the victim here, but nothing could be further from the truth, because they invited this long ago when they decided to mold the news to fit the narrative.
Labeling as a Democrat, the latest Republican to get caught up in a scandal one time is an honest mistake, letting it happen several times over the course of days is intentional. Letting it happen as a regular SNAFU in your programming and there's something Machiavellian going on behind the scenes.
When you manipulate 6 month old video to say the opposite of what the speaker intended, and then pass it off as today's news, then you have crossed the line into manufacturing news.
When you send a "news producer" to incite a political rally you are no longer merely reporting the news, you have become the news.
When you lose all impartiality and become hand selected to be the network who covers the President, whle CNN gets kicked out of the pool - you are the story.
So, Fox, don't try to play the innocent victim here. Your comeuppance has been coming up for a long time.
