You'd think American media outlets would be proud that our President has won the the world's most prestigious international prize. Instead of celebrating, they are denigrating the President, the Nobel Committee, and the prize itself. Follow me below the fold for details, if you dare...
CNN (http://www.cnn.com/) plays up the controversy, ignoring the honor:
Commentary: He deserves it | No, not yet
Win polarizes Web | World reaction
iReport.com: Does Obama deserve it?
with a Quickvote further down the page about whether he deserves it (currently NOT, by 45% Y /55% N, which BTW you can help change, hint hint).
ABC: Really bottom-feeding here, with Stephanopoulos featuring two, count'em two negative takes:
WILL IT BACKFIRE ON OBAMA?
and for some bizarre reason, a complilation of
Best Obama-Nobel Jokes
(http://blogs.abcnews.com/george/2009/10/best-obamanobel-jokes.html)
all of which just happen to be nasty, mean spirited digs from conservatives.
And of course a poll (http://abcnews.go.com/), which of course has "Obama Deserves it" losing - hint hint.
MSNBC at least has a positive headline:
Obama: Nobel Peace Prize is ‘call to action’
But undermines it with links immediately below with links to Newweek's "Seven Controversial Nobels" and Michael Steele's bitter whinings. And a poll (http://www.newsvine.com/_question/2009/10/09/3364945-is-president-obama-deserving-of-the-nobel-peac
e-prize) in which 61% of respondents say he doesn't deserve it - hint hint.
CBS is positively laudatory in comparison - its only dig is wondering whether the award is
A "Mission Accomplished" Moment?.
Psst, CBS - Obama didn't STAGE the NPP. CBS's poll (http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/10/09/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry5374127.shtml?tag=stack) has Obama undeserving of the award by a 56/38 margin.
Saved Fox for last - you can just imagine the joy and support from them!
Too Much, Too Soon?
Historians say awarding Nobel Peace Prize to Obama is premature and an 'embarrassment' to the process, and is unlikely to lead to major policy changes

Their "International Reaction" coverage is especially amusing, since it seems to be largely drawn from Murdoch-owned newspapers. In the rare countries where those are unavailable, they manage to find some troglodyte to carry their water.
Fox doesn't seem to have a poll. But I encourage all Kossacks who agree with the President's efforts to promote world peace to freep the ones listed above, if only to counterbalance the efforts of Red State and Free Republic to tear our President down.
