A civilian police officer who shot the Fort Hood gunman four times during his bloody rampage stopped the attacker cold, a U.S. Army official said Friday.
As a U.S. Army veteran who spent 3 years at Fort Hood, I wish to express my deepest and sincere THANK YOU for your bravery and sacrifice, Ms. Munley. The accolades should be pouring in for you.
Here are a few of the news items I've come across since noticing it on CNN, with praise from Lieutenant General Robert Cone, Fort Hood's commanding officer:
"a pretty amazing and aggressive performance by this police officer"
"The critical factor here was her quick response to the situation"
And from NYDailyNews:
"She walked up and engaged him," he said. He praised her as "one of our most impressive young police officers."
Munley was wounded in the exchange of gunfire, and reported in stable condition at a local hospital.
Kimberly's posting on her Twitter bio:
I live a good life ... a hard one, but I go to sleep peacefully @ night knowing that I may have made a difference in someone's life.
Yes, you have made a difference, Kim Munley. Thank you. And may God speed your recovery.
[Update - from the comments by Hannibal:] Sergeant Munley has a Facebook group dedicated to her. Please stop by and thank her !
[Update 2] Another diary of the same topic was published just prior to this one, please recommend it. Thank you.
