Yesterday the insanity of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars boiled over and engulfed Ft. Hood with the kind of mindless mayhem that is common place today throughout Iraq and Afghanistan. No other way to process the excruciatingly absurd drama that played itself out on America's largest military base. Those GIs didn't get a chance to get blown away by IEDs, friendly fire, enemy fire or land mines. The base shrink did it for them.
Only one conclusion can be drawn from this. Time for Barack to pull the plug on this imperial adventure in Afghanistan. Lets send all the little GI Joes and Josephines back home to be with their families or their therapists so they can start recuperating from the mental and physical toll exacted by years of endless war against the people of Iraq and Afghanistan. An endless war against the muslim world. Crusades don't work and we don't have a Richard the Lionhearted leading us to Jerusalem.
Unfortunately, a little bit of everyday life in Iraq and Afghanistan was visited upon a US military base filled with GI's ready to deploy to fight George Bush/Barack Obama's wars. Pax Americana doesn't work. Didn't work in Viet Nam either but apparently there is a collective amnesia about that fucked up mess that cost over two million lives. Empires rise and fall. Come and go. This one is falling apart. Thousand year reichs only last a few years. There is no way on God's green earth that the US military is going to achieve anything approaching victory in either of these ridiculous imperial adventures. (Once again see the Viet Nam war if you have any doubts). The only thing being accomplished is lots of American, Iraqi and Afghani lives are being wasted while a few US defense contractors are getting filthy rich. So it goes. Oh yeah, and the US economy is in free fall from dropping billions each year into bottomless pits in the muslim world. Back in LBJ's time it was called having guns and butter. Didn't work then and sure as hell isn't working now. I cannot remember any serious discussion anywhere from anyone about the costs of these idiotic wars on our economy. It's all Wall Streets fault. Greedy bankers did this to us. Insane unending wars have driven the economy over the brink and the power elite's media isn't gonna bring it up. Don't want to distract the American people from their carefully ochestrated illusions. And there is no one out there doing anything to stop these wars. It shouldn't be the younger generation's responsibility to put and end to these wars as they did during Viet Nam. The vets should be putting an end to this instead of sitting on their asses telling themselves war stories and how everyone should have that experience. No one should be accepting deployment to these fucked up war zones. Just say no baby! Viet Nam bankrupted and short-circuited The Great Society. Two never-ending wars have turned back the clock to the 1930s. My mom lived her life each and every day literally haunted by what she had seen and endured during the Great Depression. We're getting a taste of that now.
So Barack has a choice. He can polish his Nobel prize and set it on his desk in the Oval Office and send tens of thousands more US guys and girls to Afghanistan. A lot of them to never come home again. Or he can declare victory over the Taliban and the drug lords and bring everybody home for Xmas. Those are his choices. No grey areas. Its black or white end the wars or continue to bankrupt the economy and kill off a lot of young American soldiers and Iraqi's and Afghani's in the process. Unfortunately, I think I know which way he's going to go.
