We just learned from Cool Onion that Pete Sessions compared being female to being a smoker in his defense of insurance companies charging higher rates for women.
However, as we are reminded in that diary we need to take action and get rid of Pete Sessions. Here's more from Cool Onion at The Progressive Electorate back in October
This time, though, we have a candidate who can beat Pete Sessions in his own gerrymandered district and who will do it as an unapologetic progressive. His name is Grier Raggio, and he's going to win by getting progressives excited enough to do all the block walking and phone calling necessary to win this district back from "Taliban Pete." After all, Pete Sessions has never polled above 57%, even in this "safe" district.
more about Raggio below the thread
Here's more from that diary
Progressives in TX-32 are excited about sending Grier Raggio to Congress.
First of all, we like the people he hangs out with, namely his wife and his mom!
Grier's wife, Lorraine Raggio, helped start the Dallas County blue tidal wave in 2004, when she became the the county's first Democrat in 20 years to be elected to a Civil District Court.
Grier's mom is Texas trailblazing lawyer Louise Raggio, who changed Texas' draconian laws requiring women to get their husband's permission for every legal and business transaction.
Secondly, Grier Raggio has already proven himself as a progressive in his own right by his record of giving to the Democratic party, supporting every Democratic challenger to Pete Sessions since the district was created, as well as the national presidential candidates. Grier is also a supporter of LULAC Council 4871 - The Dallas Rainbow Council, whose mission is to foster dialogue between Latinos and the LGBT community. Grier is a lawyer; although this is his first venture into politics, he's already demonstrating a better temperament for Congress than Pete Sessions, by meeting with groups representing the rich ethnic and socio-economic diversity of the District and by listening to what real people have to say--something Pete Sessions is too scared to do. (Pete Sessions like to talk tough, but he'd rather cut and run after a debate than talk to his constituents face-to-face).
Here's a video on Louise Raggio - wonder what she thinks of Sessions comments?
I don't think we need any reminders about how bad Pete Sessions is for the people of his district and the United States Congress. But just in case you want more - here's more on his ineptitude
It's time to back a candidate that can beat Sessions. And it sounds like Grier Raggio is somebody we can back.
We've added him to our Act Blue page We know times are tight, but drop $2, $5, $10 or whatever you can afford. If we can get Raggio on the map others will take notice. According to Cool Onion - Raggio's ''trying to raise $11,000 by Tuesday to show the DCCC that there's interest in this race".
