Pretend you're Obama, mulling over the entire situation, ALL of it: Military and Medical Industrial Complexes, brainwashed population, frothing media, 24-hour news cycle, embedded bureaucrats, stupid Congressional rules, two illegal wars with real consequences for sudden withdrawal, instinctual popular revulsion for abortion and gay marriage, constant deaths and PTSD infecting the lower class, impending climate crashes, peak oil, collapsing economy, rising world population fostered by five outmoded religions and their fundamentalists, foreign relations with a much more socialist Europe with Islamist problems, a rising Asia with nuclear weapons, prisons and the entrenched drug warriors, scheduling the kids' soccer lessons, advice flying in from everywhere...
It's not easy being President. Walk in his shoes.
Every once in a while, I get tired of reading single issue diaries.
My issue is governance, plain and not so simple.
Humans, in groups larger than we were designed for, need cultural "instincts" installed shortly after birth to augment and modify those we come with.
The culture of the small tribe on the prehistoric savannah does not scale up to "democracies" of 300 million. That should be obvious, and a foundational concept expressed in every governance rant (and DailyKos is nothing if not a governance rant).
This is just a plea for inclusion of an indication of wider wisdom in most of the frothier diaries:
We are small-tribe genomes living in a vastly different niche, the modern world. Try to remember that as you prescribe changes in governance.
