A few days ago, Jay Clough, a 33-year old former Marine, announced his candidacy to replace Rep. Richard "Doc" Hastings as Congressman for the 4th District in Washington State.
Doc has been easily re-elected every single time in the last eight election cycles, starting in 1994. He was also voted in 2005 as one of the 22 most corrupt congressman in America.
What say we give an early boost to Jay's campaign, and moneybomb him into competitiveness? Bio and donation info below the fold.
In the last election cycle, Doc Hastings easily had over $600,000 dollars to take on attorney George Fearing, who struggled to raise just half that amount. Every election it's the same story, as the Democrat has a hard time finding enough funds even to be advertise during the election.
46% of Doc's campaign contributions in 2008 came from PACs. And who is his biggest contributor so far this year? The oil and gas industry. Of course, the 4th has virtually no gas or oil in it, so isn't that interesting?
Important to remember, 40% of the 4th District regularly votes for Democratic candidates. This is a winnable district, or at least we can force the Republicans to spend scant resources on keeping a seat they haven't had to struggle for in the past.
Nationally, the DCCC avoids giving money to a 4th District Democrat because they view it as a lost cause spending money against a strong incumbent. But how can we attract viable candidates without funding?
It's an endless conundrum, which you can help to change by making a small contribution. Doc is now 68 years old and he's misrepresented the 4th District of Washington State long enough. Won't you help him retire?
An ActBlue fundraising page has been set up to give Mr. Clough an early fundraising boost, with a goal of $20,000 by the end of the year. Let's put Doc's days of corruption to an end, shall we?
MONEYBOMB!!!

"We can have leadership that focuses on getting Central Washington new good-paying jobs. We can have leadership that realizes that our health care system is not working and is part of working toward a solution.
We can have a representative that regularly visits every part of the district and actually listens and brings those concerns back to our nation’s capital.
I served proudly as a Marine because I believe this is a great country. I decided again it was time to step up to serve, to listen, and if elected, to lead on the key issues facing Central Washington," said Jay Clough.
