I want to express my appreciation to the group that mounted a major campaign to remove Lou Dobbs from my television. His racist xenophobic spewing against Latinos in this country each night, has kept CNN from my television for years now. Similar to the Color of Change movement against Beck, Presente.org mobilized a massive campaign to deal with El Racista.
Basta Dobbs.com presented his dirty laundry list of lies and smears, and the campaign, in Spanish and English reached out to every segment of the multi-ethnic community we dub "Latino" or "Hispanic".
Presente.org seeks to strengthen the political voice of Latino communities. Using the Internet, we give our members ongoing opportunities for action on the issues they care about. Our goal is to unite Latinos of all generations, nationalities, and regions, together with allies from other communities. It all starts with the simple pledge below. Join us. ¡Adelante!
The NY Timescited them today:
Wednesday evening, the advocacy group Presente.org, which had called on CNN to fire Mr. Dobbs, declared a "victory."
"Our contention all along was that Lou Dobbs — who has a long record of spreading lies and conspiracy theories about immigrants and Latinos — does not belong on the ‘most trusted name in news,’" Roberto Lovato, a co-founder of Presente.org, said in a statement. "We are thrilled that Dobbs no longer has this legitimate platform from which to incite fear and hate."

Congratulations to all of those who participated here, in the rest of the netroots and especially to the organizers.
Celebrate.
¡El pueblo unido, jamás será vencido!
