Normally, I would not post a somewhat frivolous (but not entirely so) diary like this during the daytime, but I'm doing so today to help combat the West Coast bias that seemed present when I posted an earlier version of this diary last night. I enjoyed communing with (mostly) my fellow Californians while much (though not all!) of the East was asleep, but you Right, Top, and Bottom Coasters deserve your chance too!
This is not a full-blown "roll call" diary. I'm just interested in learning one thing, aside from your handle: what Congressional District you live in.
This will help people find one another, open some eyes about where we live, and perhaps serve as a resource for future discussions when a district unexpectedly hurtles into the news. (NY-23, anyone?)
Here's what I wrote last night:
It never fails to amaze me that whatever place we discuss in the country, there's always at least a handful of Kosters living there. Of course, that makes sense: something like 10,000 people, we're told, use the site regularly, and there are only 440 Congressional jurisdictions (counting D.C. and the non-voting territories.) So you'd expect there to be more 22 people per district on average. Even when sleep NY-23 made it into the news, we find out that we have a presence there.
If you value your privacy a lot, you probably shouldn't be in any roll call. But if you're as overly open to divulge as most of us on the Internet are, letting people know what Congressional district you're in is probably reasonably safe. And who knows, you might meet some neighbors you didn't know you had
And as I added in my tip jar:
Here's the very complicated format for comments. Your user name is already included in the comment, so:
NAME AND NUMBER OF DISTRICT (in POST OFFICE CODE + DISTRICT NUMBER) format, e.g. NY-23 or DE-AL.)
Then, if you want, you can tell us a little about why it's so great, or not, to live there.
