The Orange County Registrar of Voters is reporting vote tallies:
http://www.ocvote.com/...
CHRIS NORBY (REP) 10,401 35.9%
JOHN MACMURRAY (DEM) 7,985 27.6%
LINDA ACKERMAN (REP) 5,895 20.3%
RICHARD FAHER (REP) 3,841 13.3%
JANE RANDS (GRN) 855 3.0%
I think these are the vote-by-mail ballots being counted.
The California Secretary of State also has a webpage for the election:
http://www.sos.ca.gov/...
but it doesn't have any results yet.
This is a run-off election. The top two vote getters will compete
in January for the seat unless someone gets 50% or more of tonight's total.
I'll update for a while if and when there are significant changes.
Update 01: The Orange County site claims no updates for another 40 minutes. Oh well.
Update 02: CA SoS page has results now as well. The Orange Counter Registrar of Voters has a Twitter page (!)
Update 03: Republicans getting around 70% of the vote.
MacMurray got 45% of the vote in the last election for this seat, so maybe the mailin ballots are not representative.
Update 04:
30 precincts reporting. No much of a change.
CHRIS NORBY (REP) 10,598 35.8%
JOHN MACMURRAY (DEM) 8,188 27.7%
LINDA ACKERMAN (REP) 5,997 20.3%
RICHARD FAHER (REP) 3,912 13.2%
JANE RANDS (GRN) 875 3.0%
Last update:
124 precincts reporting.
CHRIS NORBY (REP) 12,526 36.5%
JOHN MACMURRAY (DEM) 9,431 27.5%
LINDA ACKERMAN (REP) 6,823 19.9%
RICHARD FAHER (REP) 4,537 13.2%
JANE RANDS (GRN) 984 2.9%
I don't get how MacMurray could get 45% of the vote in the last election and only 28% of the vote this time. Bodes very ill for the run-off.
