I don't diary, but I've been hanging around here for a few years reading and commenting. Today something finally inspired a diary. Rudi 9/11 Giuliani is considering getting into the NY Senate race next year to challenge Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. That's my call to action.
I was angry at the process that put Senator Gillibrand in her seat. I was afraid that the upstate dem from a reddish district could never be progressive enough to represent me. Maybe on some issues she can't, but she has proven to be an invaluable friend to the gay and lesbian community, and I believe that the spirit of our boycott requires that we reward our friends - the real ones - the ones who stand up and agree that the issues we care about shouldn't have to wait just because the agenda is crowded. So today I made my first candidate donation of the next cycle and contributed to Senator Gillibrands campaign. I'd urge fellow boycotters to consider rewarding her stands on our issues and sending Rudi the message that there's no place for his divisive pandering in the senate - especially as a representative of the great state of New York.
Kirsten has been a vocal advocate for the end of DADT and the repeal of DOMA. She believes that my marriage should come along with all of the rights and obligations that hers does. For this she has my support and gratitude.
