If we are to do health CARE reform correctly, then we need to stand up and say enough is enough. 94% is just not good enough. Why should America be the only country that doesn't have a universal health CARE system? The people who hold the lives of the citizenry in their hands, the members of Congress should think long and hard about the fact that they represent people, not consumers. These are human beings we are talking about. We are not just numbers or dollars or any other thing, first we are lives.
The Republicans spout all manner of crap and the Democrats that fight human rights are horrible. The Right supposedly preaches a pro-life agenda, but they love to worship money and preach hate and fear instead. I am not saying that there is not an equal measure of the same on the Left.
This leaves the rest of us in the Center. I don't understand what the problem with money is? We just need to tip the balance of the scales back to where we were, well never. We can no longer afford to leave anyone behind.
If the Filthy Rich, Super Rich and Incredibly Rich could give up just a fraction of what they currently hold in assets. 5% additional each year for the next 5 years in taxes, while everyone else gets an equal 5% reduction over the next 5 years. We could actually resolve the financial crisis that is bleeding too many of us dry.
I sincerely hope that our Congress does not sell out 6% of our citizens, in favor of more of the same. The money that we supposedly allow to be held by a very few, cannot get away with crushing so many people. Could someone please explain to me why the policy in this country isn't "Too Small To Fail"? I just don't understand what it means to be an American anymore.
Equal rights for all can be parsed? How is that even possible? I don't understand how we as a nation of human beings can at this time in history with all we know and all we have yet to learn not give everyone the chance to live? Instead of asking the question what is a life worth, the people who hold our fate in their hands, ask what's it gonna cost?
I feel disgusted every day that we force people to work in soul robbing jobs in order to maintain health insurance that is expensive and often doesn't cover much if anything. We also need to make solvent Medicare and Medicaid. We simply shift everyone to these programs. The insurance companies be damned. Sorry, you blew it over the last 30 years, with an unbelievably accelerated grab for cash in the last 10 years.
No more "second" chances, your fellow citizens do not deserve to be treated this way. I would really like for someone to define "with liberty and justice for all". What is not the ultimate justice if not the right to life? Isn't that supposedly the view from the Right?
I hope that I am not disappointed Saturday night, but I fear that I will be. I think that women need to be given whatever care they feel is best for them. I can't understand the recent attacks on the women of this country. Not all of us are dopes and the men who support the right to choose understand that there is a reason that men do not experience pregnancy or birth. It is for this reason that women and women alone should decide what is right for them. Education about contraception and access to what is appropriate for the patient would certainly serve to mitigate the need for rampant abortion. This would help to result in keeping abortions to a minimum, keeping the Hite amendment intact.
Health CARE should be designed specifically for the patients' needs with assistance in dietary, vision, dental, mental and basic healthy choices.
I know that the people who represent what is the right thing to do don't seem to have the upper hand right now. But I need to hear that it is the obligation of the citizens of this nation to make certain that we do not lose one more citizen because they could not afford health CARE. All bankruptcies due to medical bills should cease and the debt be forgiven. It is criminal that profit can win out over life.
Whatever we end up with, I hope we don't have to continue to raise private money to get people the health care that each of us needs.
