As the old saying goes, don't hate the player- hate the game.
The game I refer to is the one in which someone gets elected to office and then someone very close to them gets offered a job that they would have never have had a chance for otherwise. I speak of the ethically-questionable practice of offering high-paying corporate jobs to the family members of elected officials- especially Senators.
Some could easily make the argument that Hillary Clinton would have never ended up on the board of Wal-Mart had her husband not have had power that could greatly-benefit or greatly-weaken that corporation's interests(Village Voice). The same could be said for Senator Evan Bayh's wife, Susan.(TPM) Bayh's flirtation with a filibuster on health-care ended when people noted how much money his family has made.(Politico) Or Senator Joe Lieberman's wife, Hadassah Lieberman.(Salon)
Their qualifications for those jobs are not even close. It is a round-about bribe. This is just one of the ways that special interests have gotten around the law. The country would be better served if this practice were to end.
