One thing the healthcare debate has shown us is that here in Kentucky we have exactly one member of our Congressional delegation, Congressman John Yarmuth known by most Progressives in the state simply as "Congressman Awesome". There are many reasons for that, but mostly because on almost every issue he has sided with Progressives and voted accordingly.
Now, he has drawn a Republican challenger for next year:
Todd Lally, a commercial airline pilot and a veteran of the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, announced his candidacy Friday to run as a Republican next year in the 3rd Congressional District race.
The seat is now held by Democrat John Yarmuth. The district covers Jefferson County.
Lally is a lieutenant colonel and a decorated combat pilot who has served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force. He is former vice president of the National Guard Association of Kentucky and served on the executive committee of the Jefferson County Republican Party.
A lifelong resident of Louisville, Laly is a graduate of Atherton High School and Middle Tennessee State University.

Wanna see why we need to keep Yarmuth??:
One thing about Congressman Yarmuth is that every since he has been voted Congressman for the Third District of Kentucky John Yarmuth has made us proud. He has consistently voted for Progress in our country, has done so proudly and unapolegetically.
While I openly call for the Progressives on this site to shun supporting Ben Chandler because he has shown he simply does not stand with us on the important issues if it takes showing some guts, I implore every reader here to support John Yarmuth and give him the resources he needs to win this race yet again.
To do this, we cannot give money to the DCCC, who will dole it out to members such as Chandler and his Blue Dog coalition who gave comfort to the enemies of progress in this country and did their best to insure that we would have no progress in this country. Chandler deserves not one red cent from Kentucky Progressives, let the insurance companies fund his campaign because with his actions and vote he is solidly in their corner against real Democrats and Progressives who realize what needs to be done to correct the policies enacted by Bush and widely supported by Chandler.
Yarmuth however, is a different story. While disappointment sets in over our Senate candidates taking a stand on Progressive issues, and Chandler stabs us in the back while validating the ideas of Mitch McConnell, we simply must support "Congressman Awesome" John Yarmuth and make sure he has the resources he needs to win his race and continue being the only man with the guts to represent Progressives in this state.
We should all go here and do all we can to help Yarmuth win re-election and insure a Progressive voice in our Congress. No matter the outcomes of next years elections he quite probably will be the only one:
